This is an interesting shoe attachment to help with foot drop. You definitely need a shoe that has the shoe lace holes in it to work. The way it works is you screw in the hooks to the shoe then hook the ankle brace loops to the hooks. It's relatively easy to setup once you read the instructions. The material are high quality, but I'm worried the loop material will break over time. the loop material can be adjusted to fit and apply the right resistance to exercise the lifting motion of the foot. In that sense, I do think it's an effective component of therapy and it's design allows proper function of the foot without causing undue hindrance to motion.

The first thing I realized when trying to use these with a pair of my walking sneakers is shoes must have shoelace eyelets to be able to use (my shoes had looped pieces of nylon to hold the laces). I switched to a different pair of shoes that had eyelets with metal rings. No problem because this kit comes with metal washers to support the hooks that attach to the shoes. It takes a bit of patience and dexterity to get the first hook in place, but as promised by the listing, no tools were needed; getting other hooks in place became easier. Note this kit provides: □ 12 hooks □ 24 screws (6 each of 4 different lengths) □ 12 metal washers I was a little concerned that the screw heads that rest under the eyelets would rub against my feet however, they didn’t in my testing around the house. In fairness, I did not take a walk with them on but when I can, if there are any issues and edit will be forthcoming. Since these are a first for me, at first it didn’t seem like they were keeping my toes up. However, the minute I started walking it was very clear that they were doing the job. The padded part that goes around the ankle was pretty comfortable. Adjusting the length of the nylon cord that attaches to the hooks means first pulling the round knobs up the unlock the tension then pulling out the desired amount of cord. After placing the cord around a hook (there are 2 cords and 2 round knobs; 1 each for each hook), pushing the knob back down places it the locked position. Finally, turning the round knobs allows for tightening the tension to the desired level. Overall, to me this appears to be pretty good at addressing drop foot (as long as the tensioning knobs hold up with use). I would wear it for normal activity purposes but not for faster paced walking for exercise or beyond that level of activity. At the time of this review the list price was just under $70 US which is at the higher end competitively. However, the listing online “coupon price” was $49.99 US.

The brace works for whatever degree you need the support at. I received the brace, instructions, and L-wrench, washers, shoe eyelet buckles, and 4 sets of different sized screws to match the thickness of your 👟 eyelet. The brace fits many sized ankles. Mine is 7 1/4”. There are strips of silicone lining the brace. Once the brace is strapped in place and the strap tightened, turn the reel to tighten the lace to a 90* angle then you are set to walk safely. Tighten or loosen to suit your need. It’s comfortable, lightweight, and it works.

I got this AFO for my sister, who has multiple sclerosis and who generally needs an AFO to walk. Her go-to is a standard carbon fiber appliance that attaches below the knee and costs about 10x as much as this AFO. However, I thought she would appreciate having an extra AFO, especially one she could wear while exercising. This one is lower-profile than the one she has: no big black brace sticking out the back to attract attention. In fact, it's hardly noticeable as an orthosis at all, so points for that. It was easy to install, and hooked sturdiliy to her shoes. The dial was simple to adjust and held at the tension selected, and the fact it can be loosened or tightened is a definite plus. The extra wire was a bonus as well. She found it comfortable to wear, with decent support. Not as good as the $250 carbon fiber AFO, but at $49.99 a great value for the money. It definitely works as a lighter-duty appliance -- perhaps best for people with temporary foot instability, mild MS, or who are recovering from an injury or surgery. It looks good and doesn't take up a lot of space, altogether a nice product.

A Low-Profile Foot Drop Brace That Works Best With Lace-Up Shoes This is a thoughtful design for someone who wants foot drop support without the bulk of a more rigid traditional brace. What stood out to me most is how low-profile it is inside the shoe while still giving a meaningful lift to help keep the toes from dragging. Once set up correctly, it does a nice job improving walking confidence and making gait feel a little more controlled and natural. The dial system is one of the better features here. It makes tension adjustment much easier than older brace designs that can feel fiddly or awkward. Being able to fine-tune the amount of lift is genuinely helpful, especially since comfort and support can vary depending on the shoe and the person wearing it. The thicker wire also gives it a sturdier feel, and overall it seems more durable than some lighter-duty versions of this type of brace. I also like that it fits either foot and has a fairly broad ankle fit range. The ankle wrap appears designed for real-world daily use, and the lighter weight should make it easier to tolerate for longer periods than a bulky plastic AFO. For someone who wants something more discreet to wear with everyday shoes, this style makes a lot of sense. That said, the biggest thing to keep in mind is that this really depends on the right footwear. You need lace-up shoes with eyelets for it to work properly, so this is not a universal solution for every type of shoe. If you rotate between slip-ons, sandals, dress shoes, or other non-lace footwear, that limitation matters. There is also a bit of setup involved at first with attaching the shoe hardware and dialing in the right tension, so this is not quite an instant out-of-the-box fix. Another thing worth keeping in mind is that while this looks like a very practical support option, fit and effectiveness with foot drop devices can be quite individual depending on severity, ankle shape, shoe style, and walking pattern. For mild to moderate support needs, this seems promising. For someone needing more rigid control, a more structured brace may still be the better option. Overall, this seems like a well-designed, comfortable, and practical in-shoe support that balances function with wearability better than bulkier alternatives. Bottom line: A smart, lightweight foot drop brace that offers solid adjustable support in a discreet design, but it works best if you wear lace-up shoes and don’t mind a little initial setup.
