Metal Rust Preventive Paint 💯

I do a lot of restoration work on cars. Rust is the arch nemesis of any car guy- You have to either stop it before it starts, or stop it in it's tracks once it has started, or you'll be dealing with it forever. Rust encapsulators are a great way to do this.

They stop rust by converting it, then sealing off the metal so oxygen and moisture can't get to it. This makes the removal of all the rusted metal unimportant. This is a nearly impossible thing to do 100%, as there is no way to get back in to crevices and smaller areas- Rather than remove it, seal it off.

I have used a lot of different converters, but this is the first time that I have used a waterbased one. As far as ease of use goes, this is far better. It applies in a very similar fashion, like a thick paint. Coverage is good. But- what makes this product so much easier is the cleanup.

With most of the encapsulators, clean up can be a pain. They are really hard to get off, and you might as well just throw your brushes away. And if you get it on your skin, don't bother trying to hard to get it off- you'll just have to wait a few days until it wears off.

This will come off with some good scrubbing and soap- Making clean up times a lot faster and easier.

It'll be interesting to see how it lasts, long term, as compared to solvent based formulas.

This is the best way out there to prep metal for painting!

This seems to be a very good rust converting primer. I wanted ro thoroughly test this so I tried it on both a thoroughly cleaned/grinded surface and on a surface that was still slightly dirty with obvious rust flaking. This product did amazing on the prepared cleaned surface. The absorption was fantastic and I was extremely surprised with how much surface area could be covered with a very little amount of product on the brush. It was almost like spreading an oil based stain. Obviously this will go a long ways on your projects. The product absorbed extremely well on a prepared surface, but I wanted to know how well this product actually penetrated. I applied this product on the part of my camper frame that I did not take the wire brush to prior to application. It still spread very easily and visually seemed to be penetrating well. I let it dry, then took the wire brush drill to that area. You can see from the photo that even with no preperation, the product actually still penetrated and converted a highly rusted surface area. Highly recommend you preparing the surce as the directions say, but it gave me peace of mind knowing that those hard to reach areas are still going to get protection and conversion. Very satisfied with this product!!!

This stuff is magic. One can coated a pitch fork and a rather large drain grate. I did very light sanding on the pitchfork and some griding wheel on the grate (very little prep) and this stuff worked amazing. Great finish with very little work.

This paint is really good. I used a sponge brush and it covered beautifully. Totally streak free. It is matte, but not a powdery matte. Edging towards satin. I was a little hesitant to buy because I wanted matte but the description doesn�t give a good idea of the finish quality. So I hope this helps. Very happy with this paint and I would recommend it. Hello, this Rust Converter Primer is pretty dope! I did hours of prep work on this Trailing Arm before I painted on this Rust Converter so there was not a lot of rust to convert on this part except for the hard to reach areas which I still hand sanded and used wire brushes and anything else I could find because this part was basically rusted solid?? I definitely recommend prepping your pieces before painting especially if your part was like mine basically a throw away part from the level of thick dark red rust on it. That turned to slag in most places on the part that I knocked off with a hammer. I doubt if this product could fix that so I recommend not painting junk i.e. thick rust that looks like flakey metal otherwise this product works wonders but don�t expect miracles ?? Only one con: product needs painted on with a brush ?? which takes a while if you have a large piece. the pros: this product is better than spray on rust converter no doubt about it. FYI I used glossy Bed liner for my final coat this primer has a mat finish.??
